NanoDays 2010 Celebration

Saturday, March 27
12:30-3 p.m.

The Da Vinci Science Center and Lehigh University will hold a sweet celebration of extremely small science with its NanoDays 2010 event on Saturday, March 27

Part of a third annual national celebration by the same name, NanoDays 2010 at DSC will feature a public lunchtime demonstration by Dr. Richard Vinci of Lehigh University at 12:30 p.m. and limited-seating classrom activities for boys and girls ages 7 and up that highlight the cutting-edge science of nanotechnology.

These activities - Stained Glass (1:30 p.m.) and Chocolate Composites (2:30 p.m.) - will be presented for the first 30 registered children. Families can register by calling Ruth Brown at the Da Vinci Science Center at 484.664.1002, Ext. 110.

NanoDays 2010 activites will be included with paid Da Vinci Science Center admission.

Nanoscience and nanotechnology relate to things about one billionth of a meter in size. One nanometer (nm) is about the size of five or six atoms lined up. The width of human hair is about 80,000 nanometers. When materials are reduced to the nanoscale size, their properties and uses change.

NanoDays 2010 is organized by participants in the Nanoscale Informal Science Education Network (NISE Net).
