Sock Hop for Science

The spirit of the fabulous 1950s will be alive and well Feb. 27 when the Da Vinci Science Center presents its Sock Hop for Science, presented by Royal Gourmet Foods. Adults can rock their leather jackets and poodle skirts for this stroll down memory lane from 6-10 p.m., with proceeds benefiting the Da Vinci Science Center.

Nostalgia will the be word as guests enjoy food stations, jitterbug dancing, a hula hoop contest, and a "Science of the 1950s" trivia contest hosted by Jaccii Farris of WFMZ 69News.

Guests can eat at the Royal Gourmet Foods Drive-in - complete with a soda fountain and servers in boat hats serving burgers, hot dogs, fries, milkshakes, and Coke floats. Guests also can eat at the Royal Gourmet Foods Diner, featuring hot turkey, mashed potatoes, and macaroni and cheese. Signature drinks of the 50s will be served, including the such as the Tom Collins and Whiskey Sours.

A deejay will spin the 50s greatest tunes and the dance floor will be hopping. Guests can learn to dance the stroll, the jitterbug, and the twist or participate in a hula hoop or limbo contest. Musical entertainment also will be provided by a surprise guest.


Performance by ElvisDavyJ
Allentown-based performer ElvisDavyJ also will perform at the Sock Hop for Science, performing several hits from the King of Rock and Roll. ElvisDavyJ also performs singing telegrams and stage shows throughout the community. Click www.davyjelvis.com for more information.








Tickets are on sale now at the Da Vinci Science Center for $60 a piece. Da Vinci Science Center members can take advantage of a members-only rate of $50 each while supplies last. Complimentary babysitting for this adults-only event is available for the first 60 children ages 6-12 registered.
